Pocket Video Camera
Posted August 20th, 2010 by spreiszRecently, I decided that I was interested in getting a pocket video camera in order to take videos of the kids and put some putting some home how-to videos on my home improvement blog at http://www.improvinghome.com. My first choice was to get the flip MinoHD camera which seemed to be very popular. Much more popular than the SlideHD which seem to give some people some concerns.
Well, I mentioned this to a few of my friends at work and on of them had the Kodak Zi8 and said that they really like it. That lead me to my own investigation and comparison between the Kodak Zi8 and the MinoHD. It didn't take me long to decide that the Zi8 was the obvious choice for me.
Both offered 1280 x 720 resolution, Lithium-Ion Rechargeable battery, and a the flip out usb connector but the options that made me choose the Zi8 over the Flip MinoHD was the macro focus mode, SD/SDHC card expansion slot, external microphone jack, 5.3MP still camera and the 60 fps at 720 video capture. And all of these features for less that $120 bucks!
I will say that I think the Flip MinoHD wins in the sex appeal and small size aspects but I will take then specs over the sex appeal for now. My Kodak Zi8 is on its way now and as soon as I get it I have some 1st year grape vines growing in my back yard that I was looking to share the progress on.
